Dorcas Gilmore: Designing & implementing a Solidarity Economies Legal Needs Assessment for Baltimore’s Black communities

The Skadden Foundation awarded Dorcas R. Gilmore a Flom Memorial Incubator Grant to support the creation of a Solidarity Economies Legal Needs Assessment. Through a series of community conversations and listening sessions, the Solidarity Economies Legal Needs Assessment will identify a range of existing and emerging solidarity economy efforts in Black communities in Baltimore and assess how legal services could support and/or accelerate these efforts.

The mission of the Flom Memorial Incubator Grant is to support novel projects undertaken by former Skadden Fellows. These grants were made possible by a generous testamentary bequest of Mr. Joseph H. Flom, as well as significant donations in Mr. Flom’s memory by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, and Flom partners and others in the community.
